R.I.P Little Jimmy Scott

We just lost today a great great talent : Jimmy Scott

For those of you who do not know his biography , here it is . Take the time to read it, he is a true survivor and an inspiration for all .

In the video below he is singing live at age 87 in New York.  His phrasing , the way he punctuated every word using his hands and head and the emotion he infused into his songs were unique.  I have also included one of his last albums , Holding Back The years , which is a collection of famous cover versions famously covered in his particular way.

I met him on a shoot in Paris many years ago when I produced Peggy Sirota’s art photography book called Guess Who. We begged Jimmy to be part of the book and Peggy did a close up of his extraordinary long, fine and gnarled fingers . We all fell in love with him and his voice and went to see him perform that same evening. I will never forget the experience .  I became a die-hard fan and melted in admiration .   Jimmy Scott we love you .
