It’s cold and grey outside, Hassan Hajjaj’s rockstar portraits will cheer you up

These colorful portraits of Hassan Hajjaj make me think also of Seydu Keita and Malick Sidibe, two of my favorite photographers of all times.

Hassan photographs people in his home town of Marrakech…his “rockstars” are the snake charmer, the henna girl, the male belly dancer….wearing clothes he has designed for them , standing in spaces he has covered in patterns that he has chosen and set in frames he has made himself.
