R13 winter 2016 : The meaning of sumptuous quality.
Always on the lookout for the perfect jean I come back again and again to the R13 brand. Made from luxurious Italian and Japanese denim and made in a highly specialized boutique factory in Japan and Italy, the wonderful fabrics are soft, tough and age with grace. The line is rugged but chic, unpretentious and genuine.

Frustrated by the restrictive world of the skinny jean I have always resorted to buying men’s skinnies and slacks for comfort. Read about it here. Somehow women’s skinnies felt like I was wearing a Spanx from my ankles up, ending with a waistline that barely covered my underwear.
In California a while back I was introduced to my first R13 jean and have been a fan since. Their Boy Skinny style is roomy enough for comfort with a slimmed fit at the legs and ankles so that you can actually bend over or sit down graciously, while opting for the closer, tighter fit.
I have this jean in both the black and in blue jean version and they have become my uniform, specially when I travel and I need to turn a daytime look into night..

During New York Fashion Week a couple of weeks ago I was able to attend their AW 2016 runway show and I am digging the direction they are going in. Beautiful oversized shearling coats, soft leather jackets with spiked trimmings, large distressed wool or cashemere sweaters, beautifully cut men’s style pants in grey wool and long plaid dresses that feel just the right amount of grunge and I cannot wait to wear. At their showroom I was able to touch the luxurious fabrics and look closely at the exquisite craftsmanship. The garments fall and fit to perfection. For someone who loves casual wear as much I do, the possibilities are endless. Specially since a lot of my beloved Californian brands do not translate well on the streets of Europe.
I can’t wait to start rocking some of these styles.
And last but not least below : These gorgeous boots are made for stomping around with a lot of punk and attitude. Made by hand by the Santoni family in Italy they are surprisingly light and versatile. On r13denim.com and Barneys.
