We just lost today a great great talent : Jimmy Scott<\/p>\n
For those of you who do not know his biography , here<\/strong><\/span><\/a> it is . Take the time to read it, he is a true survivor and an inspiration for all .<\/p>\n In the video below he is singing live at age 87\u00a0in New York. \u00a0His phrasing , the way he punctuated every word using his hands and head and the emotion he infused into his songs were unique. \u00a0I have also included one of his last albums , Holding Back The years , which is a collection of famous cover versions famously covered in his particular way.<\/p>\n I met him on a shoot in Paris many years ago when I produced Peggy Sirota’s<\/span><\/strong><\/a> art photography book called Guess Who. We begged Jimmy to be part of the book and Peggy did a close up of his extraordinary long, fine and gnarled fingers . We all fell in love with him and his voice and went to see him perform that same evening. I will never forget the experience . \u00a0I became a die-hard fan and melted in admiration . \u00a0 Jimmy Scott we love you .<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
